I was wondering what, if any, shapefiles or shapes in general are supported by AQ. I have a geoJson-file with camping places that I would like to make visible in the app. Maybe I could convert the data to any supported format.

Lot of shapes are already supported by the application (points, lines, polygons), and support for Shapefile format is in progress.
But as far as I understand your problem, it's more a data format problem.
The application can import several file formats like GPX or KML (see end of this page). You can even import CSV files (coma separated values, one point per line). Any chance you can convert your file toward one of those? Various free apps are available like GPSBabel.
