Using the + and – zoom control appears to change map on my pixel ( not so on Samsung) not a big issue but can be frustrating see video for example

Yes, when you've reach the max level of your map another map is selected if you use the zoom buttons.
If you don't want that put your map in a separate folder.
Or add the
user setting:
