[closed] Continuous tracking on a Pixel 4XL phone

I'm a long time Alpinequest user, but I'm not a 'tech' person, so if anyone has any answers for me, please keep it simple, thanks.
I've been running Alpinequest on an obsolete Google Nexus tablet for several years, and it's worked fine in all that time. Apart from occasional blips, it records my walking routes very accurately and I've been very well pleased with it. The tablet has always lived in a shirt pocket while I walked, so the screen was off and all the track recording was done in the background. Whenever I switched the screen on, I would be shown my recorded route line and my current location. It would work like this all day. Never had a problem, which is why I've never needed to come to this forum for advice.
I now have a Google Pixel 4XL phone, and of course I'm keen to use Alpinequest on it. On the plus side, the phone registers more satellites than my tablet ever did. Alpinequest itself appears to work very smoothly in terms of displaying my location very quickly. However, if I use the phone, with the screen off, and put it in my shirt pocket, I don't get the same result when I switch it back on. My tracks now appear as a series of dead straight lines linking all the places where I actually looked at the screen. It's as though there's no continuous tracking going on in the background any more. I've put the tablet and phone side-by-side and made sure that all the app settings are exactly the same, but I'm still not getting the tracking accuracy on the phone that I was getting on the tablet.
If anyone has any ideas about how I can get detailed, continuous tracking, then I'd really like to hear. As far as the phone goes, I don't care how much battery I use, so long as I get detailed continuous tracking.
