AlpineQuest & OfflineMaps

Hi and thanks for AlpineQuest, so beautiful application for navigation.
I was suggested an interesting idea which can be implemented in AlpineQuest (if it does not sound crazy).
The idea is to create raster maps from any image (map) in AlpineQuest.
I offer to have a look at Custom Maps Android application and to use some ideas from it.

The idea is to calibrate an image map and save as KMZ map just like it is done in Custom Maps but within AlpineQuest.
Custom Maps application is not so comfortable to calibrate maps for some reasons (one of them is that it uses only Google maps which are not always detailed) but anyway it works and I managed to calibrate some image maps into KMZ even using 3 (three) key points — strange but these KMZ maps look rather precise.
In case it is realized in AlpineQuest it would be more comfortable because AQ uses various maps and layer maps, it can manage opacity very well and so on.
So people can produce any raster map by themselves immediately using any image map (internet images, photo / scan images etc.) right on the device without any OZI Explore, Global Mapper and so on…

What does the author of AlpineQuest think of it?

Hi Alex,

It's not a crazy idea at all. It's even a planned feature.
All the pieces are already in AlpineQuest (you can already import KMZ image overlays or KML+image).

I just need to find time to create an user interface to make this possible. I'll try to make it at the same time than the OZF+image support.
But right now I can't tell you a release date unfortunately, I have so many features...

Just want to say I would also be very interested in this feature.
I am often in an area with-out of reception looking with a book containing old survey maps.
it would be beneficial to overlay these maps onto satellite imagery in the field.

Interested if there is any updated information on the Progress.
