Apparently you need a developer key and that gets you 15000 monthly transactions for free. Can someone explain where one enters this key in AQ? Or is there a descriptive post you can direct me to ... because I believe a key is also needed to access Bing maps.
ADDENDUM
I just created a free MapQuest Developer account. I now have a "Consumer Key" and "Consumer Secret" and await instructions on where they go.

Re: MapQuest Open: "direct tile access has been discontinued".
Hi,
I've updated the map, will see for how long it will be working.
To update it, add the "OpenStreetMap maps" as explained here.
If, after that, you want to use your own key, you can edit (with a simple text editor) the config file of the map and update the images URL. The file is "alpinequest/cache/builtin-maps/OSM.aqx".
Let me know if you need any more details.
