Compass settings

Post by stewa »

I have just installed version 1.4.22 on my galaxy S3 mini.
When I look in the compass settings I have 3 sensor types to choose, TYPE_ROTATION_VECTOR, TYPE_ORIENTATION, and TYPE_MAGNETIC_FIELD.
They all appear to work but I would like to know which is the best one to use? :?:

Hi,
It doesn't really matters if all work fine.
By default, the application uses the "Rotation vector" which usually gives the best results, but on some devices it doesn't work at all, that's why this option has been added. "Rotation vector" uses various hardware sensors to give improved results, whereas "Magnetic fields" only use the geomagnetic sensor of the device.
What really matters is a good calibration: be sure to rotate your device around all axis when you see weird behaviors.
Best regards

Thank you for replying.
I'll use "Rotation vector" as you suggest.
Good useful app.
