AlpineQuest GPS Location Tracker

Post by rambler »

Going mad!
Where is it? I do not see AlpineQuest GPS Location Tracker in the Menu or anywhere
1.4.19 paid for version

I bought AlpineQuest mainly for tracking and exporting walks, and importing & following routes.
I do not see this functionality anywhere. So far I am very disappointed.

Hi again,
You can acces the GPS Location Tracker from the Location menu (2nd on the right), as displayed on this screenshot: http://www.alpinequest.net/en/help/1.4/geolocation.
It has always been there.

Thank you. I am struggling with the navigation of the app and the terminology.
Next problem. I do not see any way to open a Route GPX file, to follow it.
Could you give me a nudge please?

Ok great for the Tracker.
Concerning your other problem, you'll find a complete how-to with screen-shots on our online help: http://www.alpinequest.net/en/help/1.4/ ... ollow-path
You can process in the same way for GPX items, just click on a GPX file from the Landmarks Explorer to browse the content.

Thanks.
Going in through Landmarks Explorer I can locate and open an imported track from elsewhere saved as a GPX file in the Waymarks directory, but it opens with no background map displayed (white background).
If I zoom out to the full World view it is clearly in the right place.
How do I get it to open on the appropriate map automatically?

Related question: Is there any way of setting a default maps directory?

Hi again,

If you're using an online map, then the app will download the map data of that area and store it for offline use.

If you're using an on-board map, then you've to select a map that covers this area. There are plenty ways to do that, if you're browsing a folder containing such maps, just press the '+' or '-' button to load it. You can also make a scan of your memory to search for all available maps. Maps are then stored in two categories, one for maps that cover the currently displayed area, one for those which don't.

The online help explains all this: http://www.alpinequest.net/en/help/1.4/maps/onboard-use.

Best regards
