http://www.offline-maps.net/en/help/maps says
What if an on-demand map is not working anymore?
or also perhaps: is working, but seems to get an older edition of the
map in question.

Well in this case it would be nice to be able to compare all the
parameters of the maps in question, from the comfort of a desktop
computer.

So it would be nice if all these map lists that the app uses,
(Community, etc.) could be public on the net, for us to examine, without
needing to dig them out of the app.

In fact, as they are not part of the proprietary app guts, perhaps maintain them on GitHub.

Indeed, that would make them easier to maintain as others could directly propose corrections.

The list is already public, in the way that when you choose a map from the list, the config file is downloaded on your device as a simple text file users can read and edit freely.

Concerning a public repository, I don't have the time currently (I don't think I'll have the time in the future anyway), but because of what being said just above, any user is free to make it.
In fact, someone made one here.

Also, just the other day somebody asked me if that app is so great, does it have maps of Taiwan? Well I told him yes. But he has no proof to find before installing the app to find out. Therefore users, when considering whether or not to install the app, should be able to consult a full list of the current available Community Maps. Yes that GitHub site is great but it's hard to navigate and confusing. Also it might become out of date soon. Also it is not official. Official meaning linked from the official app documents.

Sure, I could send him a screenshot. But that's not official.

Also, that GitHub site doesn't show any Taiwan maps anyway.

The thing with Community maps is that they can be removed at any times. On a regular basis, I receive request of removal or sometimes simply the map server update and it's not possible to access to the map again from the server. The only official maps are the one that come pre-installed.
So in no case an user should use/buy the application because of particular map. I'm tired of email like "I bought the application because of this map, now that this map has been removed I want a refund".
Community maps are just a plus.
