KML/KMZ way point and background import limitations

Can you tell me what the maximum number of way points in a kmz file that can be imported? also is there a maximum size of background image?

A large number (thousands).
But it only depends on your device (memory, CPU, etc).
There in no "soft" limitation as per the application (however large files will be very long to import).
