[closed] picture waypoint orientation

Post by helwin »

What happened to this very useful feature?
I could use it unly with some beta version around the end of July, but it was disabled after a few days. Or did I disable it myself inadvertently?

It's still here!
Just be sure to have the compass turn on before taking the picture.

Ah ok, thanks.

I suggest that these orientation values should always be recorded regardless of the compass setting and there should be an option to display or undisplay the picture´s orientation.

The compass must be turned on so the application can record the orientation. If the compass is not on, the app doesn't know where you look at.

To disable the display of the orientation, you can use this user setting:

Code: Select all

landmarks.painter.picture_heading=0

I meant the app should be recording the compass orientation alll the time - like Facebook is allegedly recording your data in the background even if you tell them they should not. This would add the possibility to display or undisplay the picture orientation while not having to care about the compass settings used when taking the picture.

So in my case, I wasn´t aware of the link between the compass settings and the display of orientation, so I lost some useful info..

Suggestion:

global setting: display/undisplay orientation

individual setting : tap on a picture waypoint/ enter submenu/ show/ hide orientation.

btw "edit colour" does not work in latest beta version...

Right now the application doesn't do or start anything in the background without user consent.
Also, it would drain the battery, and the compass is not always calibrated to we're not sure the orientation is correct...
But it's quite fast, just long press the "orientation" menu button to turn the compass on, take your picture, and long press the menu button again to turn it off.

Concerning the "Edit color" problem, can you give me more details I cannot reproduce it?

Ok I see your point.

Edit color bug:

tap on a picture waypoint and it´s name appears, tap on the name and the menu opens, I can edit details but not the color.

In fact I can edit the color but then it does not change anything.

I think I understand the confusion.
The color option is only when there is no icon (the waypoints is displayed as a dot).
But currently the icon color cannot be changed (including the camera icon for picture waypoints). I agree this not clear, you're not the first one to report this "problem".
I'll see what I can do for the next versions.
