[closed] GPS stops when AQ is in background (screen is off)

Hello,
I have been using AQ for years. After a couple of LG ( L5, G3), last year i got the Xiaomi Mi8 , mainly for the dual frequency GPS chip this device uses. Currently AQ is version 2.2.5d , Android level 10. Initially no issus at all, but in the last months ( probably after a system update) , when recording track , GPS stops when AQ is moved to background (black screen). After standby ,as in the meantime the path is not recorded, a straight line is created. I know this is due to Android 10 energy management. I tried to set all flags allowing AQ to work in backgrund, but withouth success. So I can no longer record tracks without having AQ on the screen. Ugly
Any idea, suggestion , special setting or walkaround ?
Let me add : some file based AQ maps ( Italy,Liguria west, close to France border)I converted from different formats , can be downloaded at https://www.alpmed.it/MT8_C/mappe/8_MAPS_AQX_CSS.htm

Hi,
There are unfortunately a lot of different places to check on recent device (Android tries to make it harder and harder to use the GPS while the screen is turned of). Maybe some days it will not be possible anymore at all...

GPS can be disabled by Android itself, or by all the tools added by your device brand (MIUI for example).

Here are listed various places to check depending on your device brand: https://www.alpinequest.net/en/help/v2/ ... k_recorder

In general, you must turn off all battery optimisations because one of the first thing done when optimizing the battery is to turn off the GPS while the screen is off.
If it still doesn't help, I'd advice you to contact your device brand support and ask them how to not disable the GPS when the screen is off.

Hi dear team, I have been using AQ for ages now and really loved it to track all my training in the mountains, etc. Much better and safer than a GPS watch!
However, since July I cannot record anything as it constantly stops when the screen goes off.

I have tried everything you mentioned in different posts or articles regarding battery optimization etc.
They are deactivated. What makes me believe it is an issue with the app is that other applications a perfectly running in the background like Strava or Google Maps.

I hope I can really find a solution ASAP as I need it to be safe in the mountains.

FYI, the phone I use is the Doogee S95. It was working perfectly with it until July. Not that I remember having done a phone update.

Thank you for your help

Hello, Florian Kedoux!

Try to use MIUI these settings. This should help.

Be sure to turn OFF all battery optimisations, because, again, completely disabling the GPS while the screen is off is the first optimisation made by the system.

Back to you.
After a full check of all MI8 MUI settings , a new fresh installation (and problem still present) , I got this link http://www.alspergis.altervista.org/gns ... _GNSS.html. : same problem with different product and data format... . After a small test I found "GPS Connect" fully addressing my GPS issue. And , this is the very good news, AQ is currently working fine also with GPS Connect switched off. I think something is changed in internal settings. See test result in attach ( screen was off and AQ in background)
Why do not implement "GPS Connect" functionalities in AQ ?

Hi again,
But it's already the case. If you select a tracking frequency of 20 seconds or less, the GPS is kept active by the application at all time.
