First thank you for an awesome product... OfflineMaps has huge potential in aviation.

With some small tweaks I believe no pilot would go without!!

Wish list of small tweaks and additions, as seen by a commercial pilot:
- Info boxes on map screen made movable
- Setting to decide the number of decimals on heading
- Direct GeoPDF map support
- Option to have 2 coordinate formats dislayed at the same time
- ETA displayed next to speed and direction when moving towards a target
- GPS altitude displayed below coordinates
- Multiple device profile support, plan on your tablet, have it on your phone
- Option to store route traveled with time and date, bread crumbs with adjustable interval..

Above is my personal wish list, more might surface later...

Again allow me to thank you for an excellent product, keep up the good work!
I am already directing my colleagues and others towards this app.

Best regards

Hi and thanks for all these suggestions.
All are very interesting, but some will require a lot of work so I can't say whether or not it will be possible to add them (at least soon).
- Movable info boxes: technically possible, but moving where? Most corners are already used. Or maybe movable anywhere?
- Settings for heading decimals: can be added soon for sure;
- GeoPDF: this one will be hard. Especially on a mobile device with very few available memory... But I'll have a look at the format specifications and see what's possible to do;
- 2 coordinate formats displayed: can be added soon;
- ETA display: this one is planned and will be added as soon as possible;
- GPS altitude display: this information is already displayed in the GPS information box (when the GPS is activated). Let me know it's displayed too small, or should also be displayed with the coordinate. In a way, it can make sense to have it with the center coordinates too when it's known;
- Multiple device profile support: planned (through an online storage space), but it will require a lot of work so I can't give you an estimation of availability date;
- Traveled route: this one is interesting but won't be added in OfflineMaps. If you need such features, you can have a look at our sister application AlpineQuest. It's based on OfflineMaps (same map features), but add extended tools dedicated for hikers (but could be used for anything else), including a complete GPS location tracker and detailed track statistics. Let me know if you are interested by this other application.

Concerning GeoPDF format, I don't know your computer and GIS knowledge, but there is a way to import GeoPDF files in AlpineQuest using the process explained here: viewtopic.php?p=3068#p3068. Right now it not straightforward, but it's planned to improve this process.

Best regards

Thank you for the quick reply... I'm looking forward to the upcoming updates!

A little elaboration regarding:
- the boxes; they are all displayed along the left edge, if they could be moved to the top of the screen so you have the maximum square map displayed. But movable would be awesome (Custom is always best :) If the individual boxes would have a fixed position and not relocate when a new box appears.
- "PDFmaps" (beta) runs large GeoPDF without any glitches (>100mb) on my SGS2 and SG Tab 2 7.0, where you can download the files directly from your DropBox
- Instead of using your server to store profile data, why not utilize the users own DropBox / Cloud storage??

Another possible tweak:
- Creation of closed protected user groups where you can share your current position or targets/landmarks with others in the group (Squawk) - two individual hikers arranging a meeting spot in the wilderness by sending a coordinate...

Best regards

Hi again,
The GeoPDF support is possible for sure, but will require a lot of work so won't be anyway available in a near future.
Concerning the dropbox support, that would be nice you're right. I've just added this feature int the wanted list.
Finally, for the share of waypoints between users, that's already possible in AlpineQuest. I really think you should switch to this last one (contact me by email to do that), it seems that you're waiting for more that just a mapping application.
Best regards

VERY happy with the switch to Alpine Quest... thank you!

Best offline map app by far!!

After several hours of use and test in flight I have encountered some issues that I think others would appreciate...
- entering a coordinate in "search location" is VERY difficult when you are moving, maybe when you pick a coordinate in the search function the entry field becomes several individual fields according to the type selected where typing replaces the current coordinate.
- the option to arrange the entered landmarks in folders where you have the option to display all of the landmarks in the same folder by a single activation (check mark)
- enlarge the distance displayed to the right of landmarks in "explore landmarks" and add magnetic direction

Best regards

Thanks! There is still a lot of waiting improvements, I haven't forgotten them!

- Concerning the coordinate search, a similar input method has been requested long ago, I guess I'll have to do it quite soon. It's currently like that because it allows to easily copy/paste coordinates from web pages, whereas the other method not. So I'll have to make both input method available...
- An option to arrange displayed items in folders, right? Yes, that could be a good idea.
- Larger distance with direction, should be in next version. For the direction, it will be the bearing from the north, is that what you need?

Yes a magnetic bearing from present position / map center to the landmark, not a reference bearing.

I am loving this app more with every use... brilliant!

I just wish there was an easier way to convert maps... :)

Hi again,
I have made few improvements in version 1.4.6:
- I have enlarged the distance display in the Landmarks Explorer;
- I have added a direction arrow instead of a bearing value, however you can activate the bearing value display (see here: http://www.alpinequest.net/en/help/1.4/user-settings, setting landmarks.explorer.display_full_bearing);
- I have added an user setting to change the number of decimal for bearing values (setting core.bearing_decimals).

Haven't been in here for a while... one thing really annoys my eyes... the short for knots when the distance unit is nm is kts not mph!!! Please fix in next update!!

A few tweaks:
- I would really like if I could chose primary and secondary distance unit separately (speed still using primary unit)
- User definition of location tracker line thickness
- When using advanced settings and no 0 decimals on bearing it still shows a .0 after the bearing all over the app
- Option to shade individual areas and not bulk as it is now
- Would love to have an Estimated Time of Arrival when moving towards a target, either tablet arrival time or time remaining till target

LOVE the app... on my leg on every flight I make!!!

Hi again and thanks for your feedbacks.
I have updated the nm speed unit, you're right. However, I have used 'kn' since it's the preferred ISO and IEEE symbol. Thanks a lot.
Concerning you requests:
- A separate secondary distance unit would be very difficult to add. However I can add one or more hybrid formats (like the one already existing using mile distances but meters heights), let me know what you would need;
- I'll have a look at the tracker thickness;
- You're right, the ".0" shouldn't be displayed. This will be corrected in the next update;
- It will be possible to change the fill color (including transparent) of each areas independently in the next update too;
- That's already available: when you've a waypoint set as target, the ETA is displayed in the GPS Location details window. When a path is targeted, the distance along the path is used instead of the straight line distance. The speed of your last locations is used.

Best regards
