[done] Stats for recorded track

Post by twoten »

First of all, congratulations on creating a great app. I have installed quite a selection of map apps for hiking and AlpineQuest is one of the best. the main advantage of this app is the ability to create offline maps.

Another app I like when hiking is 'My Tracks' but this is mainly used for keeping statistics of the route.

I note AlpineQuest gives some statistics but quite limited. It would be a nice addition if you were able to include similar stats, like:
Total Distance
Total Time
Max Speed
Average Speed
Moving Time
Average Moving Speed
Elevation Gain
Min Elevation
Max Elevation

It would also be useful if these stats can be accessed live from the map page.

Can you explain the altitude setting in your stats? A test run gave me:
Altitude: -10ft (+89ft, -98ft)
Min: 295 ft, Max 335 ft

I also like the facility to upload the track into Google maps in My Tracks, I know I can convert and import the .GPX file but it would be a nice feature to be able to upload it directly from my phone to Google while still away.

Don't take the above points as criticism, I still think it's an app worth having..
Thanks.

Thanks for your feedbacks and ideas.

Let's start with some explanations:
Can you explain the altitude setting in your stats? A test run gave me:
Altitude: -10ft (+89ft, -98ft)
Min: 295 ft, Max 335 ft
-10ft : total elevation gain/loss. Computed as ( altitude of last point - altitude of 1st point ).
+89ft : cumulative gain. Sum of each ( altitude point - previous altitude point ) with a positive difference.
-98ft : cumulative loss. Sum of each ( altitude point - previous altitude point ) with a negative difference.
295 ft : minimum altitude over all points.
335 ft : maximum altitude over all points.

Here is a discussion on the cumulative gain/loss values.

Concerning your list of indicators, here is what is available in version 1.0.7:
It would be a nice addition if you were able to include similar stats, like:
Total Distance -> line 2 of details view
Total Time -> line 3 of details view
Max Speed -> not available right now
Average Speed -> line 3 of details view
Moving Time -> not available right now
Average Moving Speed -> not available right now
Elevation Gain -> line 4 (see above)
Min Elevation -> line 5 (see above)
Max Elevation -> line 5 (see above)
Missing indicators should be added in version 1.0.8 soon.
It would also be useful if these stats can be accessed live from the map page.
Right. Will be done.
I also like the facility to upload the track into Google maps in My Tracks
Next version should handle (read and write) KML files used by Google. It should allows an easyer import to Maps, but should not be done automatically from AlpineQuest soon (I'll have a look how it could be done).
Don't take the above points as criticism, I still think it's an app worth having.
Features proposals are always welcome, and I'll ever try to include them when it is possible.

Regards
