[resolved] No Profile Data for imported waypoints

Post by tropisch »

Hi everyone,
When i Import some waypoints i.e. from a website, the waypoints are shown correctly, but i dont See the Profile of the way. (The hights etc.)
When i Set the way manually via the automatic route Tool, i can See the profile.
What am i doing wrong?
How can i See the profile?

Hi,
Waypoints are just points, so there is no profile between them.
The app will only give you a profile along paths or tracks.

Ok thanks for the update.
I've checked your GPX file and all points contain an elevation of "0m".
In your screenshot actually we can see a profile, but since the application uses the imported elevations from the file in priority, it only displays a profile with "0m" elevations.
A solution would be to open your GPX file with a text editor, and make an automated "search and replace" to replace all occurrences of "<ele>0</ele>" by nothing. Then import the file, in this case the app will uses it's own elevations.
Another solution would be to contact the website producing the GPX file and ask them why they put all elevations to "0", instead of the real values or no elevations at all...

Thanks for you fast help!
I understand now how it works and how i can fix it.
Seems like many websites i use dont provide the real elevations.
Maybe it might be a nice feature for future versions:
User can choose between File elevation and "own" elevation.
I will Post it in the right section of the forum when i am Home Thanks again
