google country specific maps?

Hi ,
This question goes to one of the tech support / developers of the Android offline-maps app.
I use the app to download google maps for offline navigation using the GOOGLE.AQX file.
I live in Denmark and when I use google on my computer and search for eg. Pattaya, Thailand google maps shows the latin word "Pattaya".
But if I download the same map using the app on my phone - only the Thai language letters shows. No latin words like "Pattaya".
I suppose that it is the GOOGLE.AQX file that tells google which country specific maps should be downloaded.

How can I make the offline-maps android app download country specific google maps ?

Thanks for a great app!

Jesper

Hi,
Yes the GOOGLE.AQX file display localized names right now.
I have updated it so:
- "Google Maps" now display English names;
- "Google Maps (localized)" displays localized name (like before);

The file is attached, just replace the file on your device by this one.
Note that parts already cached won't be updated, so for those ones you'll still have the previous names, until the cache is refreshed.

Best regards

Hi there, would this option still work today? I can't seem to able to get English/International display of place names going.
Thanks in advance for help.

By default the displayed version is the international one.
If you click on "add more maps" and choose "google maps localized" then you have the specific versions.
