[closed] Keypad does not appear

Hello,

When I need to type a few letters in Alpinequest, the keypad sometimes does not appear.
It happened to me when I wanted to save a recorded track and give it a name, and also when I created a waypoint and wanted to give it a name.
The cursor is in the name field, but the keypad is not present. All other buttons work fine.

Restarting the app usually solve the problem temporarily, but it is not always necessary.

I use a Xiaomi Redmi 6.

Best regards,

Hi again,
Thanks for the report
Do you have any of the settings "Display over lockscreen" or "Screen always on" activated?

Yes, display over lockscreen ("déverrouillage non requis") is activated.

I could reproduce the bug with the hints you gave: when I get to alpinequest via the display over lockscreen feature, then there is no keypad when I create a point.
So a workaround is not to use this feature when text needs to be typed.
Thanks

Hi again,
Yes this problem has been reported by some users but only on some particular devices (all my test devices work great).
Right now unfortunately I have not found any fix for those devices.
Can I ask you what is your Android version? (The other device is a Nokia 8 with Android 9).

It's a Xiaomi Redmi 6 with Android 8.1.0 011019
and MIUI 10.3.6

Just for the record I have always had this problem with Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 using Android 7.0.
It always works OK after restarting the app.

I had the same problem. Using Xiaomi pocophone and previously Redmi. But I found this was due to being logged out of the phone. If you log in again with fingerprint or pin code then keyboard is accessible again, so by this means although a little cumbersome, I can overcome problem and be able to name and save tracks etc.

Hi,
I've been able to test the application on a Pocophone and reproduced the error. I've tried various things but unfortunately it seems that the MIUI keyboard cannot be displayed if the device is locked. It may also be the case for other keyboards.

So if the keyboard doesn't appear when the application is displayed over the keyguard (option "Display over keyguard" enabled), you must first unlock your device.

Right now this is the only solution.

After further investigation, it appears to be a security measure at the system level.

In some cases (depending on Android version and device brand), you need to first unlock your device before using the keypad.

In this case you must either:
- Unlock your device (for example simply put your finger on the fingerprint sensor);
- Deactivate the application setting "Display over lockscreen".
