I'll dont use the ruler often (for me the scale bar is enough) but i'm agree that the distance values are not very visible on some maps …
The "compass" graduations are also not intuitive to use … For me it's something different and too much informations on a map are not really usable !
With inclination map, the ruler works fine also but too difficult for distance evaluation.
But ruler is an option, so there is no problem.

As to me Radius ruler is a very useful option! For better visibility 4pda users advise to make it as a black-white-black frame.

I've made tests over light and dark maps, but I'll check again.
I want it to be clearly visible but as the same time quite discreet.
Also, here are some users settings to tweak the display:

Could you please add another user settings item - values distance, bearing unit etc. in bold?
I would like to test how it works and looks like.

I tested it with various values. To my mind on my device the blue colour looks very good for various maps with text size more than 10.0 and line width more than 1.0. But of course everything depends on the device and the screen size.

I would like to propose to add distance values displayed in different places of the circles, at least in two places of every circle .

Probably all data in radius ruler would be better displayed in bold / bold?

Why not to make these user settings as regular settings for Radius ruler?

Currently app have a compass with many options. Are you not afraid that too much informations make the radius ruler less readable ?

Hi again,
I've made few changes in the radius ruler based on your feedback:
- Slightly increased ruler line width (default value of "map.canvas.radius_ruler.width_dp" is now "1.1");
- Slightly increased texts size (default value of "map.canvas.radius_ruler.text_size_dp" is now "11");
- Added display of "NE", "SE", "NW" and "SW" sectors (with an option to display/hide them);
- Added user setting "map.canvas.radius_ruler.text_style=" allowing to display text in bold with "map.canvas.radius_ruler.text_style=bold".

For information, the radius of the first ruler circle is always the size of the scale displayed in the top/left info box. Both are linked.

This is how it looks like on my device 5.7". But actually it is not well dispalyed as it is on the screenshot here. On the divice I do not see it properly.
I used here "map.canvas.radius_ruler.text_style=bold" user setting.

Alex: for sure it's less visible on your device & map than in the Sam (boowoo) screenshot, where it appears smooth and clear.
Could you modify it using then user settings and send me the values you need to have a clearly visible ruler?

I tested it on some other maps. I could say it looks different on various maps, sometimes better, sometimes not. I don't even know if I can test everything modifing it using then user settings
