[done] suggestions to handle maps

Hi!

I'm using Alpinequest for mounths, and I very like it.
This program has everything I need!

There's only one thing what I found a bit difficult: changing maps.
I mean changing between single maps is acceptable easy, but there are too many factory default maps (pre-installed) what I can not delete or disable from stored map list.
For examle USGS maps are unuseful for me because I live in Hungary, so it would be good to remove this map (of course not totally permanently) for easier map browsing.

For me the bigger problem is to change between map "configurations": I often use google satellite with layer google roads, and I also often use g.satellite with (as layer and specified opacity) turaterkep-hungary.
Changing between the two map-config is difficult because I have to select both maps of the config, set opacities, etc.

I think there would be good to make a "favorite map (config/set)" function where the user could create various favourite map sets and later he could select one of them by only one button.
The opacity settings would also stored.
Maybe user could add a name for the set.

But possibly it is a problem only for me...:)

Sorry for my poor english...

Thanks,
hsepitesz

Hi and thanks for your suggestion.
You're right that changing maps is not always fast, especially is you're using layers with opacities, etc. I'm also using various maps and layer, so no, it's not a problem just for you ;)
I have been thinking about improving that for a long time, but never found "the" ideal solution.
The ability of saving map configurations as you are suggesting would be great. I'll try to make something like that soon.
I'll let you know soon.
Best regards

Hi,
I have released version 1.4.10 with this feature. Maps configurations are listed in the "Maps & layers" submenu.
It's very useful, thanks a lot.
Best regards
